Obituary for Betty J. Toppert
BETTY J. TOPPERT, 76, of 25421 N. 3000th Avenue, Prophetstown, IL, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at her home. Betty was born June 4, 1934 in Lyndon, IL, to George and Leminnie (Stork) Immel. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools and was a graduate of Lyndon High School. She attended medical school in Minnesota where she graduated as a radiology technician. Betty married Arlyn F. Toppert on October 23, 1955 in Prophetstown, IL. Betty, Arlyn, and their family lived in Georgia, South Dakota, Texas, New Hampshire, and California. After Arlyn retired from the Air Force, Betty and her family returned to Illinois where she farmed along with her husband in the rural Prophetstown area. She was a former member of the Lyndon Congregational Church and the American Red Cross. Betty enjoyed antiquing. Survivors include her husband, Arlyn; one daughter, Beth (John Butemeyer) Toppert of Grapevine, TX; three sons, Mark (Jane) Toppert of Brady, TX; Kent (Gaye) Toppert of New Braunfels, TX; and Gary (Marcy) Toppert of Merkel, TX; eleven grandchildren, Allie and Andrew Butemyer; Rachel, Jessica and Paige Toppert; Lindsay and Travis Toppert; Sarah, Austin, Grace, and Rebecca Toppert. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lorel Huyett, Catherine Karlberg, and Doris Musielak; and one brother, Wesley Immel.
