BETTY H. SCHAVER, 92, of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Resthave Home in Morrison.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Rev. Shannon Parrish, pastor of Newton Zion Reformed Church in Erie, IL, and Rev. Michael Hooker, pastor of First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, IL, co-officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Newton Zion Reformed Church.
Betty was born September 11, 1931, in Fenton, IL, to Peter L. and Flora (Heun) Temple. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County Grade Schools and attended Erie High School in Erie, IL. On June 10, 1949, she married William L. “Bill” Schaver in Fulton, IL, and they shared their lives together for over 68 years until Bill’s passing on April 17, 2018. Betty was employed by General Electric in Morrison for 28 years retiring in 1993. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, IL, and previously a member of Newton Zion Reformed Church in Erie, IL, where she also sang in the choirs. Betty was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and cherished playing cards with friends. She and Bill spent many happy years traveling together after retirement. Above all, Betty found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and friends, and attending the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Pat) Barrett of Clinton, IA and Brenda (Dave) Sheckler of Fulton, IL; one son, Steve “Sid” (Kelly) Schaver of Albany, IL; five grandchildren, Amanda Schaver, Miranda (Eric Burden) Schaver, Emily (Brian) Strunk, Nikki (Jason) Frett and Kara (Travis) Ricklefs; three step-grandchildren, Dannika Dawson, Ben (Rosemarie) Barrett and Emily Carlson; eight great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-step-grandson; two sisters, Genevieve Tiesman of Fulton, IL and Beverly (Jim) Naftzger of Erie, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; one step-grandson, Andy Barrett; three sisters, Florence A. Buis, Marian J. Merema, and Josephine M. Boelkins; one brother, Louis G. Temple.
