Beth was born July 31, 1953, in Lancashire, England, to David “Brad” and Claribell Ialeen (VanTreeck) Traxler. She was educated in the Waukegan School systems in Waukegan, IL. She attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. On August 4, 1973 Beth married Stephen D. Jordan in Clinton, IA. They were just shy of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. When they were first married, Beth and Steve could often be seen riding Steve’s motorcycle, the tassels on their leather jackets flowing in the wind. She cherished spending time with Steve, and loved him deeply.
Beth was a kind and gentle mother. She was always there to listen and comfort when her children needed her. She celebrated their accomplishments and gave advice without judgment. The love she gave generously to her husband, children, and everyone she met, was a testament to her faith. She attended the United Methodist Church in Albany for more than 30 years and enjoyed running the computer during services. She loved to cook delicious, homemade meals for her family. Her homemade noodles were a triumph. In high school, she won the 1971 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow award.
Beth, along with her sister Shelley, owned and operated the Words of Wisdom Christian bookstore in Fulton, IL for 24 years. It was her pride and joy to serve the community through Words of Wisdom. Rain or shine, snow or ice-storm, Beth was determined to be there for anyone that might need a last-minute confirmation gift or sympathy card. She loved being able to help find the perfect gift for any occasion. Her generous spirit and kind heart will be missed greatly, and remembered always.
Survivors include her husband, Steve; one daughter, Amber (Jesse) Upah of North Liberty, IA; two sons, Jacob (Stephanie) Jordan of Erie, IL and Travis Jordan of Thornton, CO; four grandchildren, Austin Jordan, Dominic Jordan, Ravenn Upah and Iris Upah; her sister, Shelley (David) Baker of Albany, IL and a brother, David (Kimberly) Traxler of Arlington Heights, IL.
