Obituary for Bessie A. Housenga
BESSIE A. HOUSENGA, 85, of Mercy Living Center South, Clinton, IA, formerly of Albany, IL, died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Living Center. Bessie was born April 13, 1926 in Albany, IL, to Bert A. and Lillie E. (Graham) Reedy. She was educated in the Albany Grade School and attended Albany High School in Albany, IL. Bessie married Garrett Housenga on September 26, 1945 in Albany, IL. He died August 6, 2008. She was employed as a cook at the Albany Grade School for 19 years. She was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church and participated in the United Methodist Women"s group. She was also a member of the Whiteside County Homemakers. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra (Randy) Moberg of Albany, IL; one son, Gary (Sandy) Housenga of Albany, IL; eight grandchildren, Lori (Mark) Swift, Brian (Anneta) Ammon, Brenda (Troy) Lange, Steven Langy, Traci Kaas, Paul Housenga, Richard (Wendy) Housenga and Deanna Solis; fourteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garrett; one great granddaughter, Tammy Lange; one sister, Vera Reedy Allard; three brothers, Harry, Archie, and Ralph "Bud" Reedy.
