Obituary for Ben Diephuis
BEN DIEPHUIS, 93, of 1220 10th Avenue, Fulton, IL, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton, IA. Ben was born November 17, 1917 in Carroll County, IL, to Jacob and Martha (Housenga) Diephuis. He was educated in the Thomson Grade School and attended Thomson High School in Thomson, IL. He married June Voss on October 11, 1945 in Fulton, IL. She died February 19, 2003. Ben was first employed by the Wallace Lum Lumber Company and later farmed in the Thomson and Argo Fay areas. He was a lifetime member of the First Reformed Church in Fulton where he served as a deacon, an elder, Sunday School and Catechism teacher. He was also a member of the Carroll County Farm Bureau. Survivors include two brothers-in-law, Vernon (Priscilla) Voss of Morrison, IL and Kenneth (Delores) Voss of Clinton, IA; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June; one son, Allen Lee Diephuis; one sister, Marie Bielema; three brothers, Martin, Earl, and Gerald Diephuis; and one brother-in-law, Harold Voss.
