Obituary for Becky McLuckie
Becky McLuckie passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home in Fulton on Wednesday morning, August 12, 2020. She was an inspiration to others and a true example of strength and beauty during her battle with breast cancer.
Becky was born February 1, 1968 in Clinton, IA, to Gene and Margaret (Smith) Pessman. Becky was educated in Garden Plain School, Albany Jr. High School, and graduated from Fulton High School. She went on to graduate from American Institute of Technology in Davenport, IA, with a major in Merchandising. Becky was employed at Medical Equipment Services in Clinton, IA.
Becky was known for her beautiful smile and genuine kindness. She was sweet and caring toward her family, friends and neighbors. She was always ready to listen and unselfishly gave her time to others. She had a habit of staying up late and enjoyed having long talks with her boys and family. She was so proud of her boys, Kyle and Nate, and with love, they recognized the many sacrifices she made for them. Kyle and Nate had a great love for their mom, their rock, their best friend. Becky so loved to watch her boys’ sporting events. It was at one of those sporting events that she first spoke to the future love of her life, Scott. They enjoyed sports, music and the theater together. They discovered they were soulmates. He often referred to her as ‘beautiful Becky.’ Scott was a tremendous caregiver to Becky during her battle.
Becky enjoyed gardening and landscaping. She was often on a mission to find the perfect plant(s) for her landscape or flower pots. She also loved animals. Becky enjoyed showing her dogs, horses and cattle while a 4-H member. Growing up, she could often be found on the weekend showing at a local horse show.
Survivors include two sons, Kyle (Payton Roling) McLuckie of Clinton, IA and Nathan McLuckie of Fulton; fiance’, Scott Price of Fulton, IL; two step sons, Devon Ballard and Ethan Price; one step daughter Jordan Price; her parents, Gene and Margaret Pessman of Fulton, IL; a sister Joy (Don) Tegeler of Morrison, IL; a brother, Craig Pessman of Champaign, IL; two nephews, Jacob and Ben Tegeler.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Jake and Alta Pessman; her maternal grandparents, Peter and Esther Smith; her uncle, Robert Smith.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma Renkes Funeral Home from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2020. A private, family funeral service is planned. There is a public graveside service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 20, at the Fulton Township Cemetery. Memorials have been established for a Scholarship Program for Fulton Track and to Serenity Hospice.
