Obituary for Barbara June Simpson
BARBARA JUNE (STARR) SIMPSON, 88, of Bristol, IN, passed on December 4, 2022, at Eastlake Nursing Home in Elkhart, IN.
Barbara was born August 20, 1934, to Fritz and Beulah (Gussie) Starr in Essex, IL. She was educated in the Morrison area.
She married Robert Burke in 1952. They had two sons, Steven and Warren. On July 1, 1961, she married James Simpson. In 1960, they moved to Indiana, where she raised her children, was factory worker and owned a charter fishing boat on Lake Michigan. She also owned and operated, Barb’s Tap, in Lyndon, IL.
Barb was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church.
Barb loved to cook and for many years, she cooked Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner at her bar, for those that had no place to go. She took care of her mother and sister in their time of need. She was a caretaker by heart and helped all that she could. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include two sons, Steven and Warren Simpson both of Bristol, IN; two grandsons, Jeremy Simpson and Eric (Marla) Simpson; two great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz Starr and Buelah (Gussie) Brearton; three brothers, William “Bill”, James “Jim” and John Starr; one sister, Betty Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. A memorial visitation will precede the service starting at 12:00 PM until the start of the service. Cremation rites have been accorded. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
