Obituary for Arnold E. Wilkens
ARNOLD E. "ARNIE" WILKENS, 69, of 4588 115th Street, Clinton, IA, died Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA. Arnie was born April 8, 1941 in Clinton, IA to Cornelius and Dena (Klooster) Wilkens. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade school and was a graduate of Fulton High School in Fulton, IL. Arnie married Lola J. Barten on September 9, 1961 in Albany, IL. He later married Joyce M. Bates-Werner on October 14, 1989 in Clinton, IA. Arnie owned and operated Wilkens Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration in Clinton, IA for 43 years. Arnie held, that key to his beliefs, he would set an appointment and was always on time. He enjoyed the out of doors and spending time observing and studying wildlife. Survivors include his wife, Joyce; five daughters, Melinda (Thad) McCormic of Corydon, KY; Corinna (Tim) Foster of Fulton, IL; Laura (Bob) Brading of Clinton, IA; Debra Wilkens of Clinton, IA; and Norine (Jeffrey) Silton of West Newton, MA; four sons, Rodney (Laure) Wilkens of Cape Coral, FL; Rob Wilkens of Clinton, IA; Steven (Melissa) Werner of Fulton, IL and Mark (Chris) Werner of Fulton, IL; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Darlene (Richard) Hill of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA and Beverly (Paul) Cascio of Edgewood, WA; two brothers, Larry (Mary) Wilkens of Springfield, IL and Roger (Carol) Wilkens of Fulton, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Evelyn Whitwell.
