Obituary for Arnold A. Hartman
ARNOLD A. HARTMAN, 90, of 1121 9th Avenue, Fulton, IL, died Monday, December 10, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA. Arnold was born September 11, 1917 in Thomson, IL, to Henry L. and Anna (Traum) Hartman. He was educated in the Thomson grade schools. He was employed by area farmers until he entered the U.S. Army, where he served in the U.S. and the South Pacific during WWII. Arnold married Grace E. Zuidema on June 28, 1946 in Dubuque, IA. Following his military service, he was employed as a carpenter. He later was employed by Herman Nelson in Morrison, IL, Drives, Inc. in Fulton, IL, and Clinton Engineering in Clinton, IA. His hobbies included carpentry and the construction of his own home. He also enjoyed making black walnut clocks, woodcrafts, gardening, and raising mini-corn to sell. Survivors include his wife, Grace; one son, Rex Hartman of Fulton, IL; three granddaughters, Lindsay Hannan of Moline, IL; Melanie and Rachel Purcell both of Clinton, IA; six great grandchildren, Aaron Hasenmiller, Cade Hannan, Madison Burman, Vaughn, Lea, and Marlee Purcell; five sisters, Mrs. Lucille VenHuizen of Clinton, IA; Mrs. Helen Kramer of Sterling, IL; Betty (Albert) Notz of Mt. Carroll, IL; Luella (John) Garrison of Sterling, IL; and Mrs. Darlene Vos of Morrison, IL; two brothers, Norman (Gilda) Hartman of Fulton, IL and Norris (Shirley) Hartman of Mt. Carroll, IL. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Vickie Purcell-Weaver; nine brothers, Willard, Leonard, Floyd, Virgil, Ivan, Warren, Raymond, Levell, and Henry Hartman.
