Obituary for Anthony W. "Tony" Szabo

ANTHONY W. “TONY” SZABO, 56, of Okeechobee, FL, formerly of Morrison, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at his home in Florida.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 - 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Eagle Point Lodge in Clinton, IA. The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A memorial to the Walter Payton Liver Center-UI Health has been established. On July 15, 2019 Tony received a liver donation from his daughter, Emily; they continue to find that the life-saving work the UIH Liver Center does is incredibly valuable. Online donations may be made at https://hospital.uillinois.edu/about-ui-health/giving.

Tony was born December 19, 1967 in South Bend, IN to Anthony W. and Janet L. (Severied) Szabo. He graduated from Penn High School in Mishawaka, IN and later attended a South Bend Community College for Business. On May 25, 1991 he married Debra Bush in Erie, IL. Tony co-owned and operated, along with his wife Deb, National Wash Authority, LLC in Morrison for 30 years. He was a member and on the Board of Directors of the PWNA – Power Washers of Northern America. He enjoyed winters in Florida, vacationing with family and his sports cars - especially washing his cars. He loved watching his girls thrive in all of their sporting endeavors, and took great pride in all of their accomplishments. Tony never met a stranger and was eager to pass along any tips on how to succeed. He will be remembered for his humor and ability to make everyone laugh.

Survivors include his former wife, Deb Szabo, of Morrison; three daughters, Megan (Toby Zellmer) Szabo of Milwaukee, WI, Emily (Evan Camper) Szabo of Ames, IA, and Anna (fiancé Nate Portz) Szabo of Morrison; his mother, Janet Szabo of South Bend, IN; one brother, Jason (Holly) Szabo of Atlanta, GA, and his life-long best friend, Jack Bennett of Osceola, IN.

Tony was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Szabo, and his father-in-law, Harvey Bush.
