ALLEN DUANE VANKAMPEN, 91, of Fulton, IL, died, Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
A private family graveside service will be held at Fulton Township Cemetery with Pastor Steve Lingle, hospice chaplain, officiating. There will be no visitation. A memorial has been established.
Allen was born April 3, 1933, in Whiteside County, IL, to Jacob and Jennie (Bielema) VanKampen. He attended school in East Clinton, IL. He served his country during the Korean War as a member of the United States Army’s 863rd Transportation Company. On October 22,1955, he married Viola M. Levens in Mount Carroll, IL and they shared their lives for over 42 years until Viola’s passing on March 21, 1998. Allen was employed by International Harvester, where he worked until his retirement. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and Kyle Busch and a man who cherished life’s simple joys, such as exploring the outdoors, fishing, camping, and woodworking.
Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie (Bob Farr) VanKampen of Fulton, IL, Paula (Jim) Barsema of Fulton, IL and Robin Hurst of North Dakota; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Marlene (Robert) Buck of Fulton, IL; one brother, Richard (Linda) VanKampen of Fulton, IL; one brother-in-law, Vernon Jensen of Clinton, IA; one sister-in-law, Judy VanKampen of Clinton, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Viola; three sisters, Lois Jorgensen, Linda (Doug) VanDamme and Joyce Jensen; three brothers, Paul, Donald (Bev) and Warren VanKampen.
