Obituary for Allan C. Vegter
ALLAN C. VEGTER, 62, of 9052 Rick Road, Morrison, IL, died Thursday July 27, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center East in Davenport, IA. Allan was born Dec. 18, 1943, in Morrison, IL, to Willard and Sylvia (Wiebenga) Vegter. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools, and was a 1961 graduate of Morrison High School. He went on to graduate from Morrison Institute of Technology and had served in the Army Reserves. Allan married Connie Richards on September 12, 1970 in Morrison. He was employed with General Electric Co. of Morrison for 38 years, and also farmed in the rural Morrison area. He was a member of the Fulton Saddle Club, Whiteside County Mounted Sheriffs Patrol, IL State Stock Horse Assoc., Whiteside Co. Farm Bureau, and the Clinton Church of Christ in Clinton, IA. He enjoyed trail riding, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Connie; two daughters, Tami (Mrs. Russ) Tegeler of Morrison, IL and Janet (Mrs. Wayne) Kerr of Rogers, OH; two sons, Rick (Debbie) Vegter of Newton, IA and David (Julie) Vegter of Fulton, IL; seven grandchildren, Brian, Lyndsey and Mary Lynn Tegeler; Amanda and Shaina Vegter; Holly and Aaron Vegter; his mother, Mrs. Sylvia Vegter of Morrison, IL; one sister, Joyce (Mrs. Jim) Hoefler of Rock Falls, IL; three brothers, Harlan (Marilyn) Vegter, Richard (Becky) Vegter and Larry Vegter, all of Morrison, IL; and his special family, Teri Schaver; Aaron (Starla) Gesch, Michael Matthew and Markita Gesch, Dana Mosley; Tatum and Tyler Geerts; Amanda and Kayla Bauer; Sarah Putnam. He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, in infancy.
