Obituary for Alice Bernice Ballard
ALICE BERNICE BALLARD, 84. of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL formerly of 305 Park Avenue, Prophetstown, IL died Sunday, March 11, 2012 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL. Alice was born November 11, 1927 in Osage, IA to Edmond and Irma Vervaecke. She was educated in the Prophetstown Grade School and St. Mary"s Catholic Grade School in East Moline and was a 1945 graduate of United Township High School in East Moline, IL. Alice married Lauren D. Ballard on May 17, 1947 in East Moline, IL. He died April 11, 2007. She was employed by the A & P Grocery Store in Mt. Carroll, IL in the bakery. She later worked for the Good Samaritan Center in Mt. Carroll in the housekeeping department. Most recently, she was employed for Penberthy Manufacturing in Prophetstown, IL as a production associate. She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Prophetstown, IL. Survivors include four daughters, Nancy (Jeff) Carpenter of Erie, IL; Ann (John) Williams of Clinton, IA; Elaine McDivitt of Cedar Rapids, IA; and Patricia Ballard (Caroline Sierra) of Moline, IL; two sons, Jerry Ballard of Richardson, TX and Michael (Patricia) Ballard of Dubuque, IA; twenty-one grandchildren; forty great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and one sister, Bertha Gabriel of Port Byron, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lauren; two sons, Edmond and David Ballard; three grandchildren, Jason Ballard and Chris Wright and in infancy, Marcus Ballard; two sisters, Mary Meier and Julia Mills; five brothers, Arthur, Raymond, Frank, Emil, and Don Vervaecke.
