Obituary for Alberta A. Brondyke

ALBERTA A. BRONDYKE, 95, of Clinton, IA, died Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at The Alverno Healthcare Facility in Clinton, IA.


Her funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Stephan, pastor of CrossView Church in Fulton, IL, officiating. The visitation will precede the service starting at 10:30 am until the start of the funeral. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Genesis Hospice.


Alberta was born February 21, 1927, in Albany, IL, to Rubertus “Bert” and Jennie (Venema) Klooster. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County and Fulton Grade Schools and was a 1945 graduate of Fulton High School. She married Jay E. Brondyke on May 6, 1948, in Fulton, IL. He died October 2, 2016. Alberta was employed as a supervisor for the former Clinton Garment Factory in Clinton, IA, the former Bob’ s Certified Grocery Store in Fulton, IL and then was head cook for the Fulton High School Cafeteria. She was a member of the former Second Reformed Church in Fulton, IL. She was active in the church’s Coffee Break ministry, catechism teacher and organized the high school volleyball breakfasts. Alberta enjoyed sewing, baking and spending time with family and friends.


Survivors include one daughter, Debra (Steven) Wheat of Fulton, IL; one son, Duglas (Christina) Brondyke of Clinton, IA; seven grandchildren, Jason (Lisa) Wheat, Lindsay (Jeremy) Cagle, Michelle (Mark) Clarkson; Jacqueline (Daniel) Chapeck; Adam (Sarah) Brondyke, Ryan Brondyke and Genna Schneeberger; nine great grandchildren; one son-in-law, Larry Ottens of Batavia, IL; one sister-in-law, Louise Klooster of Camanche, IA.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jay; one daughter, Diane Ottens; three sisters, Dena Wilkens, Jeannette Wilkens and Gertrude VanZuiden; two brothers, Gerald and Harold Klooster.
