Obituary for Ada E. Reisenbigler
ADA E. REISENBIGLER, 94, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Friday, September 21, 2007 at the nursing home. Ada was born January 11, 1913 in Fenton, IL, to LeRoy M. and Lera (Montague) Burns. She was educated in the Fenton Elementary Schools and graduated from Erie High School in 1930. She married Clifford M. Reisenbigler on February 4, 1933 in Fenton, IL. He died August 10, 2006. She and her husband farmed in the Fenton Township area for 60 years. They moved from the farm in Fenton to Morrison in 1993. For about 30 years, Ada was engaged in writing local news for papers in the area, including the Sterling Gazette, Quad City Times, Clinton Herald, Whiteside News Sentinel, Erie Review, and Fulton Journal. She was a lifelong member of the Fenton United Methodist Church, a Sunday School teacher, active in the church"s Ladies Aid Society, and a strong promoter of Women"s Missionary Society. Ada was organizer of the Christian Endeavor movement in the local church for young people and was active in the Whiteside County Christian Endeavor Society serving as president in 1930. She also had been a local delegate to the Annual Meeting of the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church. Ada was a member of the Resthave Nursing Home Board of Directors for several years, a member of the Morrison Hospital Auxiliary and Pink Ladies Group, a member of the Morrison Camera Club, AARP, Monday Evening Club, and had served as a 4-H leader. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jo (Ernest) Verhulst of St. Charles, MO and Constance (Kenneth) Lewis of Eau Claire, WI; two sons, Merle (Sharon) Reisenbigler of Morrison, IL and John (Linda) Reisenbigler of Fenton, IL; nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and four step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff.
