Obituary for Aaron D. Nice
AARON D. NICE, 99, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the nursing home. Aaron was born September 4, 1909 in Morrison, IL, to Abner A. and Esther (Deter) Nice. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and attended Morrison High School. Aaron married Barbara May Yoder on December 3, 1939 in Leonard, MO. She died March 4, 1997. Aaron was engaged in farming, along with his late wife, in the Clyde Township area until they moved to the Unionville area of Morrison in 1976. He was a member of Science Ridge Mennonite Church in Sterling, IL. Aaron served as pastor of the Morrison Mennonite Church from March 6, 1938 to August 26, 1984. He served on the board of directors of the Mt. Carmel Children"s Home and was a member of the Morrison Ministerial Council. Aaron enjoyed bee keeping and electrical work. Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Carrasco of New Holland, PA; four sons, Richard (Sharon) Nice of Pottstown, PA; David (Brenda) Nice of Stuarts Draft, VA; John (Beverly) Nice and LeRoy (Marilyn) Nice both of Goshen, IN; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Rachel Nice of Morrison, IL and Hazel (Richard) Hassan of Goshen, IN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; one grandson, Jeremiah Nice; one sister, Beulah Nice; and one brother, Cecil Nice.
