Obituary for Robert G. Stuart
ROBERT G. STUART, 84, of Crestridge Care Center in Maquoketa, IA, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the Care Center.

The funeral service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Rev. Wendell Davelaar, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery. A memorial to Alzheimer’s Association has been established.

Bob was born February 10, 1933, in Morrison, IL, to Fred and Tina (Wiersema) Stuart. He was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Arlene M. Balk on July 9, 1953, in Fulton, IL. Bob engaged in farming in the Fulton area and was a truck driver for VanZuiden Trucking, VanDyke Trucking, Larry Atherton Trucking, and R & B Trucking. He later was employed by the City of Fulton and at the Farm and Fleet Store in Clinton, IA. Bob was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton and the Fulton American Legion Post #402. He served on the Fulton City Council as third ward alderman. Bob enjoyed bowling and was active in both men’s and couples’ leagues. He also enjoyed woodworking, sitting on the front deck of his home which he constructed and playing Santa Claus in various venues in the area.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene of Fulton; one daughter, Peg (Mike) Wessels of Fulton; four sons, Vince (Deb) Stuart of Fulton; Warren (Joy) Stuart of Fulton; Gordon (Sandy) Stuart of Albany, IL; and Kent (Kim) Stuart of Chadwick, IL; twelve grandchildren, Jessi (Jordan) Gilliam, Michael (Kate) Wessels, Brad (Bri) Stuart, Lisa (Nick) Petersen, Kelly (Kenny Wilson) Stuart, Regina (Kevin) Dykstra, Allison (Phil) Hahn, Ashley (Sam) Yoder, Kasie (Kris) Swihart, Sara Bruns, Stanley (Ashley) Stuart, and Shane (Tiffany Leeser) Stuart; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred “Millie” Schaver of Morrison, IL and one brother, Ervin (Delores) Stuart of Morrison, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dorothy Balk and Ruth Walters; four brothers, Arthur, Donald, Marion, and James Stuart.
