RUTH SIKKEMA, 97, of 1206 S. Bluff St., Albany, IL, died Monday, January 25, 2010 at Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, IL. Ruth was born May 23, 1912, in Garden Plain Twp., Whiteside Co., IL, to Clarence and Sadie (Stroud) Senior. She was educated in the Stone Street Grade School in rural Whiteside County and attended Albany High School. She married Theodore J. Sikkema on February 9, 1929 in Garden Plain. Ruth farmed along with her late husband in the rural Albany area. She was a former member of the Albany United Methodist Church. She belonged to the Jolly Farmer Wives Club. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and her music – especially playing her organ. Survivors include three daughters: Helen (Charles) Leavens of Clinton, IA; Phyllis Sikkema of Albany, IL and Patsy Titus of East Moline, IL; five grandchildren: Charlotte (Dave) Daehler, Karen Burman, Janice (Herbert) Benshoof, Craig (Tami) Titus, Rick (Betsy) Titus; twelve great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; one granddaughter, Lorna Leavens; one sister: Evelyn Rowland; one brother: Harvey Senior. Funeral Information
