RODOLFO “RUDY” VELAZQUEZ, 95, of Sterling Pavilion, Sterling, IL, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Sterling Pavilion. Rudy was born June 26, 1917 in Lagos de Moreno, Mexico to Leoncio and Virginia (Aguila) Velazquez. He married Leona C. Buhrow-VanderLeest on March 21, 1970 in Lyndon, IL. She died December 29, 2007. Rudy was employed by the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Company in Sterling, IL. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Morrison, IL. Rudy enjoyed drawing. Survivors include two daughters, Virginia (Steven) Wirsing of Sycamore, IL and Julia (Ryan) Decker of Morrison, IL; four step daughters, Norma (Gail) Young, Debra (Galen) Johnson, and Joanne (Duiane) Dahler all of Morrison, IL and Bonny (Dale) Kennedy of Fulton, IL; two step sons, Jerry (Cindy) VanderLeest of Morrison, IL and Thomas VanderLeest of Clinton, IA; four grandchildren, Milo and Clara Wirsing; Theron and Maya Decker; eighteen step grandchildren; thirty-two step great grandchildren; three sisters, Ana Maria Lopez of Sterling, IL; Maximina Marquez and Genoveva Alcantar both of Rock Falls, IL; two brothers, Jose Velazquez of Lyndon, IL and Rogello Velazquez of Rock Falls, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona; two sisters, Maria Eustolia Moreno and Carmela Martinez-Galvan; two brothers, Carlos Velazquez and Juan Teodoro Velazquez. Funeral Information
