Henry F. "Hank" Folkers

HENRY F. “HANK” FOLKERS, 94, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the nursing home.

Henry was born September 3, 1917 in Morrison, IL to Frederick and Therese (Siebels) Folkers. He was educated in the Sterling Grade Schools in Sterling, IL. Hank married Elsie M. Buhrow on September 9, 1940 in Clinton, IA. She died July 26, 2008. He was engaged in farming, along with his wife, in the Genesee Township area of rural Morrison for 60 years and also sold Pioneer Hybrids for 40 years. Hank had served as Genesee Township Road Commissioner and Supervisor. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Morrison and enjoyed going to auctions.

Survivors include one daughter, Beverly (Ken) Helgeson of Milliken, CO; one son, Gary (Patricia) Folkers of Lyndon, IL; seven grandchildren, Brent Helgeson, Lance Helgeson, Shawn Helgeson, Grant Helgeson, Sherri Dirks, Jeff Folkers, and Scott Folkers; nine great grandchildren, Lyndsey and Kensey Helgeson, Christina and Steven Helgeson, Dustin, Ashlee, and Travis Dirks, Marissa and Megan Folkers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie; one son, Lee Ray Folkers in infancy; two sisters, Louise Groff and Mildred DeJonge.

The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CREMATION RITES HAVE BEEN ACCORDED

INURNMENT AND GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Our Savior Lutheran Church Cemetery – Sterling, IL at a later date.
