ROBERT HAAN, 89, of Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, IL, died Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the nursing home.

Bob was born July 1, 1923, in Union Grove, IL, to Joe and Jennie (Bush) Haan. He was educated in the East Clinton, IL grade school and was a graduate of Fulton High School in Fulton, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Tank Commander, 7th Armored Division. He married Nellie Beukema on April 20, 1943, in Kahoka, MO. She died January 18, 2011. Bob was employed by Climax Engineering from 1942-1943. Following his military service, he worked at Allen Printing Company in Clinton, IA, until 1960. He then owned and operated Haan’s Green House in Fulton, IL, until retiring in 1987. Bob was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton, the church’s consistory, and Men’s League. He also served as church secretary and treasurer. He enjoyed backyard gardening, Army reunions, and helping others. At age 86, he was thrilled to be a participant in the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

Survivors include one daughter, Debra Schreiner of Clinton, IA; one granddaughter, Kelly Schreiner; three great-grandchildren, Logan Rathburn, DeAngelo Dodd, Jr. and Alyviah Dodd; and one sister, Annalene (John) Wierema of Fulton, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nell; one sister, Marguerite Davis; three brothers, John, Herman, and Paul Haan.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 3:00 P.M. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

OFFICIATING: Ken Renkes – Director of Congregational Care: Ebenezer Reformed Church – Morrison, IL

VISITATION: 1:00 P.M. until the time of funeral service Saturday – December 29, 2012, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

CREMATION RITES WILL BE ACCORDED

PRIVATE INTERMENT OF CREMAINS: Fulton Township Cemetery – Fulton, IL
