MAXINE J. HESS, 81, of Milledgeville, IL, died Friday, February 17, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society in Mt. Carroll, IL. Maxine was born November 11, 1930, in Fulton, IL, to Mathew A. and Gertrude N. (Norman) Wessels. She was educated in the Fulton Christian Grade School and attended Fulton High School. She married Glenn M. “Doc” Hess on april 16, 1949 in Nashua, IA. He died February 11, 2010. Maxine worked at Elkay Mfg. Company in Savanna and Lanark, IL. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton. Maxine enjoyed bowling, puzzles, knitting and golfing. She took pleasure in taking care of her houseplants and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include one daughter, Janet (Rick) Baumgardt of Chadwick, IL; three sons, Gene Hess of Chadwick, IL, Greg Hess of Savanna, IL and Bruce (Michele) Hess of Byron, IL; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Jerry) Lavelle, Robyn (Brandon) Johnson, Sandra (Jason) Fishbaugh, Suzanne Baumgardt, Jeffrey Baumgardt, Taylor Hess, Demi Hess; six great grandchildren, Connor and Corinne Lavelle, Ashton and Joshua Johnson, Kalie and Kaden Fishbaugh; two sisters, Mrs. Shirley Holesinger of Fulton, IL and Kathe (Jack) Burns of Fenton, IL; one brother, Norman (Donna) Wessels of Clinton, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doc; one son, Jeffrey Scott Hess; one sister, Gladys Miller; two brothers, Dale R. and James Wessels.
